What do the weekly sessions look like?

Log in to Zoom using the link sent out to you the day before.

We will take some time to settle in and briefly talk about our week, any highlights, and news people want to share.

We will move on to an activity, a short teaching session, or some information to consider.

Then we will talk.

You don't have to speak if you don't want to, but we can all learn from each other, so don't be shy. We will usually take a short break in the middle of the 2 hours.

After the main part of the meeting, we will summarise what we have covered, then I will ask for requests about what to cover in future sessions and plan these for other meetings as much as possible. Ideally, everyone will have input into the way the group progresses. You can also email me between sessions with any ideas, requests or observations.

Then we will settle in for a session of group hypnosis. This is where you get to experience what it's like to become completely relaxed, to slow right down and take time for yourself. Your inner voice is often quiet and needs a calm, quiet place to be heard. You may find that ideas come effortlessly as your own power of creativity gets to work. All you have to do is breathe. After about 20 minutes, I'll guide everyone back to the room gently so you're ready to continue with your evening plans.

You can observe at first if you don't feel comfortable straightaway, but please talk to me between sessions if this is the case, as I don't want anyone to miss out on something which is powerful and life-changing. And I always look forward to hearing about what has changed the next time we speak.

Some Example Activities

If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, stressed, or in need of support and a place to talk, this new programme could be one of the best decisions you ever make.

What is "Do you have 8 minutes?"

A writer called Simon Sinek explains how he missed the signs that one of his dear friends was struggling. His friend said she reached out to him more than once. He looked back through his phone messages and said, "You said 'Wanna come over?' How am I supposed to know that means you needed help?"

So they came up with a code phrase: Do you have 8 minutes? Because it only takes 8 minutes to help someone get back on track when they know someone is there for them, to give support.

So, when you join my group, this becomes available to you. If you are struggling with life and you feel you cannot continue, message me with "Do you have 8 minutes?" and I will get in touch as soon as I am free. I cannot guarantee to be there immediately every time, as I may be seeing other clients, but I will do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.

It is confidential and no one else needs to know. I will not be sharing anything you say (unless I am really concerned about your welfare, then I will talk to you about this and we will agree a way forward, as per my professional guidelines).

FAQs – Women’s Support Group

Q. Do I have to attend every session?

A. No. There is no minimum commitment. You will be welcomed whenever you join us but we understand life can throw us a curved ball.

Q Can I cancel any time?

A. Yes. After the first month, you can cancel your monthly payment. If there is a specific reason you need to cancel and get a refund, such as your health, we can discuss this together. Just email me to let me know.

Q. Is the group totally confidential?

A. Yes. Everyone will be asked to agreed to and sign an agreement which clearly states a few basic rules, including no sharing of our conversations outside of the sessions. The only time when I would break confidentiality is if I am very concerned for your welfare, or that of someone else close to you, but this will always be discussed with you first.

Q. How will you make sure everyone gets chance to speak?

A. As the group leader, and with many years of experience in leading workshops and meetings in my previous job, I am comfortable with directing the conversation if needed. Zoom also gives me the ability to mute anyone at any point.

Q. I’m not comfortable speaking in groups. Can I still be a member?

A. Of course. No‑one will be forced to speak or pushed out of their comfort zone.

Q. Why do you include hypnotherapy?

A. As a qualified CBT‑Hypnotherapist I have found it to be very helpful to clients in helping them move on from difficulties, so I want to give everyone in the group the chance to experience it and enjoy the benefits.
