How can I help?

Life just doesn't go smoothly at times, especially as we are growing up and forming our ideas about the world. This can leave us feeling like we missed something or perhaps that we're not happy with how we are in ourselves. At Yungnar Hypnotherapy we specialise in using Hypnotherapy to set you free from whatever is holding you back, so you can become the best version of yourself.

Habits

Do you have an annoying habit you'd like to be free from? Maybe nail-biting, hair-pulling or similar? Using Hypnotherapy and teaching you the right tools and techniques can help you stop, for good.

Anxiety

Anxiety affects us all at various times in our lives, and this is completely normal. However, if you find anxiety prevents you from achieving your goals or living life to the full, it's time to find out how Hypnotherapy can help you reduce anxiety and experience freedom from its negative effects.

Social Anxiety

Do you look perfectly composed on the outside, but on the inside you feel like you are just about hanging on when other people are around? Do your thoughts trap you into withdrawing from life and then wishing you could get out there again in a more relaxed way that feels like the real you? Hypnotherapy has helped many people do just that and it can help you too.

Smoking Cessation

Want to quit but need support? Hypnotherapy has been used for decades to help with breaking free from unwanted habits and smoking or vaping is no exception. Willpower alone might work for you, but extra help is a bonus. Start where you are, and we'll go from there.

Traumatic Events

Trauma is more than a buzz word. Incidents which overwhelm our ability to cope in the moment can become lifelong issues. My training in the Rewind Technique and my personal experience of reversing the effect of a childhood trauma mean I am confident to offer this technique to clients wanting to get free of the past.

How does hypnotherapy work?

Since hypnosis is a natural human state, it has been around for thousands of years. Modern research using fMRI suggests that, in a hypnotic state:

  • The brain's alarm systems are temporarily less active
  • The area of the brain which facilitates 'interoception' (links between body and mind) is activated
  • The default pathways which process how you usually respond, out of habit, become less active

This gives us the opportunity to explore new options in a calm and safe way, based on how you want things to be.

To Think About

Steps image

You will need to be able to commit to a course of 3 to 6 sessions, online, in a quiet place where you can relax and not be disturbed. You will need access to a laptop, iPad or other device and a good internet connection

There may be techniques you will need to practice between sessions, which will all be fully explained. For example, you might be asked to fill in a form to monitor what happens in certain situations, to practice a breathing exercise, or, when you are ready, to try out a new way to approach a situation which we have prepared for together

You will also receive a recording of our first session's hypnotherapy to listen to at your leisure. Each time you listen, the greater the benefits. This recording includes specific phrases which relate directly to your goals. Listen as often as you can!

How do you work with clients?

Never had Hypnotherapy before?

I will:

  • Listen carefully to you to understand how your experiences affect you.
  • Work with you using tools and techniques which have been tried and tested and proven to help with your specific goals.
  • Always treat you with kindness and respect.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

What hypnotherapy IS NOT

  • Advising you where you have gone wrong.
  • Coaching you to 'do better'.
  • Criticising your situation or your efforts to help yourself.
  • Finding out what is 'wrong' with you.
  • Negative judgements.

Costs

Each session costs £60. The first session is up to 1 ½ hours. Later sessions are 55 minutes. The minimum course is 3 sessions. We can agree a number of sessions, based on your needs, but this can be extended if you want to continue working together. Sessions are usually weekly.

The work I do outside of our sessions is included in the price.

Your first session's hypnosis recording is included at no extra cost.

Payment must be made within 1 working day of a session using Payment by bank transfer or Paypal.

FAQs

People can be worried about hypnosis as they’ve seen ‘stage hypnosis’ where people act strangely for laughs, and that’s a different area of hypnosis that I’m not qualified in as I’m concerned with helping people progress through life’s difficulties, not making them look silly!
You can find short videos with more information in my Instagram: Yungnarhypnotherapy
but here are some of the questions I get asked about hypnotherapy:

I don’t think I can be hypnotized.

Hypnosis is actually a natural state we all get into often. If you’ve ever said ‘Oh, I was miles away’ you were in a hypnotic state. There’s not much more to it than that really, except I’ll deliberately guide you into that state during our sessions. It’s relaxing, healthy and totally normal.

I don’t want to reveal any secrets under hypnosis.

You won’t! You are still aware and under control during hypnosis and can stop any time just by opening your eyes. You don't have to share anything about your experience during hypnosis if you don't want to. I am bound by strict client confidentiality rules, so nothing is shared outside our sessions.

I might not come back.

Since entering a hypnotic state is voluntary, so is coming back. I’ll guide you back into the room gently if you become very relaxed, just like waking up in the morning. You can always hear what I’m saying and I’ll support you to get the best out of the experience at each stage.

I don't want to have to relive a negative experience.

You may have heard of people having a poor experience during hynosis. I've heard this too, but it's my job to keep you safe while you relax, and my training covers this in depth. This is even more important if we are working on a traumatic event. There is absolutely no requirement for you to relive anything in order to get free from it. If that were true, flashbacks would do the job.
The Rewind Technique is a well-researched, powerful and effective framework for allowing you to process a negative experience which overwhelmed you at the time, safely, calmly and in a way which feels totally supported. We'll talk everything through before we start so you are confident to proceed. I have experienced the Rewind Technqiue myself and it is dynamite! So it does need to be handled with care, but when used correctly it can free you from trauma quickly and without distress, so you can move on with your life without the effects of a negative, lifechanging event.

I don't think I'd be any good at hypnosis as I find it hard to relax.

That alone might make you my favourite sort of client! People report better sleep immediately, and their ability to relax improves after each session. Also, there is a lot of evidence to suggest that the 'depth' of hypnosis isn't what makes it work, and people who don't feel as if they have been in any kind of trance still get great results. We're allowing your mind some breathing space to create solutions for you, and being 'away with the fairies' isn't a requirement.

How do I know if it's going to work?

There is a large and growing body of research which provides evidence that hypnotherapy is effective and safe, with the most documented side-effect being relaxation. Having said this, there is no guarantee that it will work 100% in every case. There may be many reasons for this and these generally come to light as we talk through our progress together. I may suggest an alternative type of treatment for you to address an issue in a different way. It is a good idea to discuss your plans with your other healthcare providers, such as your doctor or specialist, before starting a course of any complementary therapy. I won't ask you to continue with sessions if you are not happy with the results, but it is a good idea to stick with at least 3 sessions to give it the best chance of success.

Client Feedback

AM. Nottinghamshire

“I found the three sessions that I had with Sara to be extremely helpful. I had not had hypnosis before, so I was unsure what to expect, but Sara put me at ease straight away. The breathing exercises to start with were great for getting me relaxed. Hypnosis itself was very relaxing and I slept really well afterwards — which is not normal for me.
I have noticed a real change in the area of life that I wanted help with, and I am extremely grateful for this. I have no hesitation in recommending Yungnar Hypnotherapy.”

FW.Essex

“I really welcomed the opportunity to be mindful about relaxing. I wouldn’t have done it otherwise and this is a great way of being guided through it and being kept on task.
I really like how the process also allowed creative thought to cut through, as well as providing some emotional distance and therefore emotional control to enable self-reflection and positive potential resolution.
Benefits included better quality of sleep, techniques to fall asleep, greater control of emotions when triggered, and space for creative and solution-led thinking.
Sara has a lovely, safe, reassuring voice and an instinctive understanding of timing and being client-led. Her professionalism is immaculate whilst being empathetic, flexible to cues, and remaining on task".

AJ. South East

"As to the sessions themselves, I think it's really important to emphasise Sara's delivery. Her tonality and meter were on point; I can't say if this is a natural talent or part of the training, but it was very, very easy to firstly enter the state of relaxation and then be carried along by the "current" of the suggestions. I would guess that this isn't trained, but rather an innate talent, a feel for pitch and rhythm that I'm sure will be invaluable in her new profession.
I found the sessions incremental - the more we did, the better they became. Increasingly I found that I did not want to leave the hypnotic state so soon (and of course, it wasn't "soon", the sessions were I think about 40/45 mins each).
And I gained some very profound and moving insights. Indeed, the final session ended in what was religious experience. I'd not felt anything like it in many years, it resparked a faith that I had if not abandoned but certainly lapsed in. I can't think of any better superlatives that the ones I've already used: profound and moving.
I think that Sara has really found her calling and will be able to help many people get past issues they have and go on to enjoy a better quality of life."

Bio

Sara - Hypnotherapist

I was born into a working-class family in the 1960s. My father passed away when I was just three and a half years old, and he was my safer parent. A tough childhood set the tone for difficult relationships and many painful mistakes. My experiences have included childhood abuse, physical injuries, an unhappy marriage, birth trauma, a near-death experience, chronic illness, and long periods of extreme pain and depression. I know what it feels like to be completely overwhelmed by life.

But I also know this: there is always a way forward. There is always help.

Over the years, I have experienced many healing modalities — from prayer, counselling and psychotherapy, kinesiology, meditation and mindfulness programmes, myofascial release, chiropractic care, acupuncture, and clinical hypnotherapy. Each has had its place. Each has contributed something valuable to my recovery. I will be forever grateful to the women and men who helped me with their skills, their compassion and their willingness to be a part of my healing journey.

As a 61-year-old woman, I am now happier and healthier than I have ever been. My life is not perfect — no one’s is — but it is meaningful, with a level of freedom that at one time I only dreamed of. This is what I want to share with you: not a promise of perfection, but proof that deep healing and lasting change are possible, whatever your experiences so far.
